Re: Historic ship could return to the Clyde

Port Glasgow-built Falls of Clyde scuttled off Hawaiian coast. That's the end of that idea. A lot of good intentions, even possible solutions to move the boat for free and bring it Scotland but still it could not be made to happen. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cn7em5p087vo#:~:text=Falls%20of%...

Re: Tiny harbour by Port Appin

It is called Cam Phort! It apparently translates to dry dock.

There are two historical environmental records (HERS) for the dock but they are not listed. You can request a visit to view https://www.trove.scot/archive/1471208

Re: Spade anchor, watermaker, Jordan drogue for sale

The 107 cone JSD is suitable for my boat size and weight. The cone edge is a deal breaker as the unsealed cone edges have frayed after a single use, shredding the cone. The new designs have hems or tape to seal the edge. If still available, please advise. Thanks.

Re: Tend Yer Lines: F7 Gusting F10 October 03rd to 4th

A couple of shredded genoas, one boat blown over on the hard, a few fenders and MOB rescue slings things floating about, some halyards flying and displaced cockpit covers. No power in the area, so Marina power down as well, toilets not working as it is a pumped water system. It’s still blowing aroun...

Re: Tend Yer Lines: F7 Gusting F10 October 03rd to 4th

Instruments are off because mast is ready for lifting off, so could not record maximum gust on ST60. However, my hand held anemometer read over F10, its maximum range in the gusts. Atmospheric pressure dropped as low as 961 mBar, and fell rapidly just after the rain passed from 980 mBar. At one poin...

Latest models from Predict Wind. The out of kilter steady wind model is AI, but its gust predictions matches others.

Interested in the JSD but I need to size it. Are the cones edges sealed with sewn tape or a hem stitched in?

Surveys: Creel Marking and UKHO Navigation Publications

The links below takes you to a couple of surveys: the RYA are asking for reports of entanglement or poorly marked fishing gear. You may remember I posted about this last year. The UKHO are asking about use of navigational services, so your chance to let the bods that be know if you want to retain pa...

Malcom Miller - Ex STA Schooner

Out sailing a month ago I was sailing towards the Sound of Luing, but just off the SE corner of Scarba, Rubha na Uma, when this fine looking Cypriot flagged charter vessel passed close by, heading southwards. A fine looking sailing ship that was built in Aberdeen. It is sad that the UK, and Scotland...

Not a squeak in any press report that I can find. Probably didn't pay VAT on the vessel.
