Clyde Visitor Moorings.
Out and about the Clyde this weekend, I noticed a distinct lack of visitor moorings. The ones at Lochranza, Brodick and Millport are all either missing altogether or sitting on the bottom with a small marker. I've certainly used all these locations at this time of year before. Anyone know why this y...

Sorry, this thread is clearly in the wrong place. I've reposted it in the "for sale" section.

Re: Avon Redcrest for sale
There isn't any facility for uploading pictures. Put them somewhere else (eg Flickr or Phjotobucket) and link to them. That's probably why I couldn't find it. Unfortunately I don't use any of the stuff you mention, so anyone interested will just need to pm me and we'll make alternative arrangements...

Re: Search and Rescue Center Kinloss moves to Havant
I was involved with Scottish Mountain Rescue (Dundonnell) for a long time. Quite a few people owe their lives to RAF Helicopters being based locally.... We need control of our own coastguard and SAR. My OP was (selfishly) focussed on maritime incidents, but you are quite correct that probably the m...

Re: Search and Rescue Center Kinloss moves to Havant
Will this affect the helicopter rescue service (I thought based at Lossie) which does a huge amount of work all over the Highlands. As I understand it "privatised" S&R helios will be based in Scotland but operations will be directed by a new "national" operations center in H...

Re: Search and Rescue Center Kinloss moves to Havant
. Two out three Scottish air bases have been cut, the entire maritime patrol fleet has been scrapped and we have the lowest military personnel numbers in Scotland in living memory. However, they are sending us some submarines. Doesn't that make you feel safe? Not really; rather the reverse in fact....

Re: New to sailing.Where to keep a cheap boat
Hi Have you thought of http://www.drbmarine.co.uk/ at Rosneath . We used them a few years ago - swinging mooring in thr season and storage ashore in the winter -- and they were the cheapest on the Clyde by some margin for both professional moorings and storage. From the southside, I guess that the E...

Re: Sailors and Moboists -- give and take
My comment was actually occasioned by one of your own posts on another thread, in which you imply that the extreme unpleasantness of some posters on the YBW Lounge thread, is correlated with their operation of "expensive motor-boats". I wanted to point out that it is possible to operate a ...

Sailors and Moboists -- give and take
Good afternoon. I'm new here, so if this topic is inappropriate please excuse me. I've spent almost all my life sailing, first dinghies and then cruising keelboats. Recently, increasing age and infirmity meant that my sailing partner and I could only go on going to sea if we changed to a motor-boat....
