'Fraid it's just West wind over tide, stronger the wind or tide, the worse it is but it doesn't last long. ( we live on Seil so we're now sort of getting used to it) You could try going through at 'slack' (SIC) water, usually about 1-1.5hrs before HW/LW Oban. First time we went through I thought it ...

Fixed it by drilling and tapping a screw into the old reefing handle and making a bracket with a big hammer. http://www.bluemoment.com/pix/gooseneck.jpg New (permanent) phosphor bronze fitting commissioned from the Odshed. It is hoped that the fine ship Jen-et-Ross will also be coming along, subject to no rocks falling from the sky prior to the planned launch date. No rocks in the offing yet, so we should make it. Although it was in March last year that we were banjoed by the boulder so there's still time !! :saltire

Hi. My brother keeps his Yacht at the Royal Northern & Clyde and it is actually surprisingly cheap. The place itself is very grand but the members are all pretty normal. Give them a 'phone, you'll be surprised. ( they even let me in and I don't dress to impress !!)

Hi Nick. Many thanks for the invite and intro. Tho' I'd better check that the old tub hasn't morphed into a Jeanneau as it was a Bavaria the last time I looked! ( a fine example of German mass production and quality!!!) But it does indeed have a good saloon for a party and booze-up.....................
