Re: Hurley question
Your dead right, that's what it's for. It has two drainage slots underneath either end of the wooden infill, which are the same as the drainage slots on the sides of the hatch housing. When I replaced the wooden infill I found both of these had been sealed up. Cleaned them out and stuck down the tea...

Re: Hurley question
Hi Silkie,
That sounds like the very bit. Its a rather odd shaped wee bit of ply with a slight curve on it to follow the shape of the front of the sliding hatch housing. I've replaced it with a nice wee piece of teak which should stop it delaminating in the future.
Cheers

Re: Hurley question
Thanks for the link. Gave up on the process a while ago will try again when I've got more of a scooby. Removed the bit of ply, poked around with a screwdriver and found out it was an infill sealing the front of the housing for the sliding hatch and the coach roof. Have replaceced and sealed. All goo...

Re: Hurley question
Hi Silkie,
Took some pics although it was persisting with rain so I did not take the timber off to get to the underside. Hope they are clear enough.

Re: Hurley question
Hi Silkie, Wee Venti is a SCM build and possibly of 79- 82 vintage ( the model with one side window). There is no gap underneath this piece of wood, however when removed it reveals a 12" long slot about 1/2" wide which appears to give access to the underside of the coach roof. I don't have...

Hurley question
Hello, a question for any Hurley lovers/owners out there. Can anyone give me a heads up as to the purpose of the small strip of wood on the coachroof just behind the mast. Mine has given up the ghost and in the short term has been put back in place with a piece of gaffa tape. Is it for access and if...

Re: Any sailmaker recommendations or warnings?
Hi ,
Ive just had a new mainsail made by Nicolson Hughes in Rosneath, although much smaller than your's and less costly. The company were very reliable, friendly, and produced the goods exactly when they said they would.

Re: Tapered straps on roller reefing boom.
You could try using a router. Trend make some decent sized cutters that would probably fit the profile, and if not exactly, then near enough to fill the rest with epoxy/filler. If you give me an idea of what machinery or power tools you have access to I could probably give you a more accurate method...

re-mainsail
Realised I may not have given enough info regarding required mainsail, apologies. Luff 23' 9" Foot 8' 1" AO slides Original sail has a foot rope and two reefing points, however loose footed would be fine, and reefing points can be added. If anyone out there has a possible contender, let me...

screaming depth sounder
Hi latest member here, Apologies if this post is a: in the wrong place and b: already somewhere on the site (still trying to find my way about). Can anyone give me a heads up as to why my depth sounder has taken to extending it's usual start up screech to a constant scream. It's a seafarer voyager a...
