WTF Craobh?

Helicopters clattering about yesterday.

Lots of cops on the pontoons around a 62 ft Halberg Rassay some in white suits. Allegedly.

What exciting times in mid Argyll. Last time it was a converted fishing boat surrounded in Otter Puddle.

Re: Wanna buy a Marina?

Motorhome Stop - Don't expect it would be a traditional campsite as you imagine it but a simple 'Aire' which is basically a parking bay of a suitable size with some services provided for a fee. Easy to make the rules that no outside seating or cooking to take place so doesn't need to be any more im...

Allegedly it is now owned by the marinas new owners.

As for when it opens, I wouldn’t hold your breath as obtaining a licence, staff and stock plus getting everything working again could take some time.

Re: Interesting plans from Calmac

Given the state of many highland and island roads, there's little point in making any improvement in the links to/between the islands. I note the the recent royal visit to Campbeltown avoided the Rest and be thankful in a way that's not available to many locals or visitors. Indeed. It is rather sad...

Re: Lucys

Enjoyed a Friday night takeaway tonight, very good.

Walked past the pub without going in. Again.

I have heard they currently have a good chef though.

Re: The Untold Voyage, Roger D Taylor

Read a couple of his books, well written and very entertaining.

I like the feeling of cosy, totally self contained voyaging to extremely inhospitable places in a well found simple boat armed only with good seamanship.

Re: Knox spade or rocna?

FWIW.. Holding. - Nothing between them once set. Setting - I think in heavy kelp/weed the Spade is just ever so slightly better as it doesn't have to roll bar to get tangled if you are a bit less precise in where it lands.. It's also easier - just- to get the kelp off it on recovery. Cost - The Spad...
