Like Marisca, I wonder what use can be made of the information that I provided.
One section had me puzzled. Why have different sections for keelboat and yacht cruising. And in which category does cruising in a Westerly Seahawk lie?

Two and a half years to get an answer to the question must be some kind of a record!

Re: Clyde Estuary - Charge for Leisure Vessels !!!!!!
My thanks to BOB for his excellent and concise summary of the debate on the 25th March. I wish that I could get to the point as precisely. I did however notice at least one other important point. While we have been focused on the 1965 Harbour Order, most of the damage has been done by the 1991Trust ...

Re: Clyde Estuary - Charge for Leisure Vessels !!!!!!
In a monopoly or competitive environment, capitalism operates for the benefit of capital, I have always thought. Further to my comments about the suitability of Peel Ports to act as conservators, I was reading some posts in the Sailing Cruising Scotland group of Facebook https://www.facebook.com/sha...

Re: Clyde Estuary - Charge for Leisure Vessels !!!!!!
In relation to various points made in recent posts: The 1965 Harbour Order was clearly intended to apply only to commercial shipping, although the description of "vessels" therein is comprehensive enough to include almost anything that floats. But among the clauses you can find that you ma...

Re: A Regular Event Ignored
I always think that the winter solstice is a bit of a cruel joke because the mornings get darker for a further 10 days or so. I used to particularly hate returning to work on the early 07.50 train on the 3rd of January and noticed in these days that the time of sunrise didn't get back to what it was...

Re: When did you last buy a chart?
I can't remember when I last bought one but over a few years I bought the three folders that cover the west coast of Scotland of the Admiralty Small Craft Charts. I had previously built up a collection of standard charts covering the Clyde and the West coast from MoK to Mallaig and the Small Isles. ...

Re: Clyde Estuary - Charge for Leisure Vessels !!!!!!
Yesterday I thought I should find out something about Peel Ports and googled it. Reading about the company and the controversies that are linked to it is rather worrying. Clearly Kenny MacAskill is right and questions should be asked about whether allowing this company to control so many ports is ad...

Re: Clyde Estuary - Charge for Leisure Vessels !!!!!!
I think that it will need to be a very cunning plan. In another discussion I read of someone who wrote to their MSP objecting to this proposal and received a response. This stated that the Transport Minister had replied to the MSP and the letter from the Transport Minister was appended. In a nutshel...

I have the XC app on my phone and refer to it. But I take the results with a pinch of salt. I feel that it is as good at predicting the weather was horoscopes are at predicting my future.

Re: Clyde Estuary - Charge for Leisure Vessels !!!!!!
Thanks for finding that gardenshed. It should be very useful. Paragraph 11 also contains useful information. It is stated that "They (Ministers) also determine that none of these powers unreasonably limits the publicright of navigation." This is important as it clearly states that there IS...

Re: Clyde Estuary - Charge for Leisure Vessels !!!!!!
This is what worries me. The right to free navigation will be extinguished. Every pissant wee area group will look to control their local water and charge to pass through it. I agree that the existing harbour orders give draconian powers to the administrators including the power to charge for or ban...
