Just talked to the sailors on their mobile.

They left Glenarm at 1:00 am and at 14:50 were 18 miles from Seil. Engine is on and the tide has just turned to help them on their way. Slow progress at the moment as the tide is not in full flood.

They hope to be in Balvicar around 7 or 8 tonight.

They are not stopping before Seil unless something unto wards happens as the weather is not forecast good for the weekend.

The trip has been reasonable but for a short while the wind did not blow as forecast, it was against them and was hindering their progress but it changed back just as quickly.

Thanks for the report, I was wondering where they were.
It has certainly been a tough week, particularly up around Scotland. I am sure they will be glad to get home.

Looks like nice high pressure weather next week at last!

When I said to them that they may be sleeping in their own bed tonight. They said they will be burning the bedding in the boat. Can't think why.

Arrived at the Mull at dawn in a confused sea, dodged a small ship and kept the tide as far as the bottom of Gigha then jogged along slowly and caught a couple of hours sleep.

We met Silkie just South of Ruadh Sgeir as the tide turned and had a celebratory gin and tonic. The sun came out and the sea calmed for a couple of hours and we realised that we were coming back to the most beautiful place we had seen on our travels. (Pity about the weather . . . )

Coming into Balvicar Bay in convoy with Silkie we met Chris and Ruth coming back from a teatime sail in Grace Darling, and we all duly repaired to the T&T where we met Holiday John, Archie, Tom, Satch and others. Tim and Jenny came in for a pint then we went back to theirs for tea with my parents, who are staying with Tim and Jenny for a month or so.

We slept in our own bed. Our house is in perfect condition and our tenants have even left us a bottle of nice wine. Seil is looking pretty even in the rain and it is good to be back . . .

5750 miles and 54 weeks . . . it will take a little while to settle down.

Will keep this forum open for another week then leave it up but closed for new posts - until our next trip anyway. I will however be adding new bits and pieces to the website over the next few weeks to ensure it is as complete a record of our trip as possible.

Thanks everyone for all your support and interest - and remember, it's not difficult - you just get on the boat and keep going.

Welcome back and congratulations to you both!

Many of us talk about doing these things, but you HAVE DONE THEM!

Will come across to see you when a) you have settled down b) they let me out of Norway and c) you can face going for a sail again!

PS Had an idillic sail yesterday afternoon and evening, on a Facile 26. Anchored in a remote bay off a small island off Stavanger (Rennesøy) and drank G&T as the sun went down. Off course had to motor back and today is p-ing down

Come over any time - but not in the next ten days as we have to do some visiting ourselves, to see our granddaughter for the first time for instance . . .

Why not drag the GP over and we can go for a sail to somewhere interesting - like the pub.

Congratulations to you both on your safe return to Sconny Botland. A marvellous voyage and one you should be proud off. Only downside is we will now have to find a new log to follow. Where do you go from here?

We are delighted to be back, busy catching up with everyone . . . long term a plan to avoid the worst excesses of the W. Coast winter needs to be worked on, but for now we are drifting . . .

Possibilities for the future include a bigger boat or perhaps a second small boat kept in the Canaries, but I need to do some work first - anyone needing a website?

Hope you two are still enjoying the liveaboard lifestyle.
