Restoration Project, Isle of Raasay

Postby Mavanier » Sun Jun 02, 2019 8:44 pm

At the end of last year one of my closest friends suddenly and tragically passed away. John, who was only 33, had gained a pHD and ran a small renweables engineering company on the Isle of Raasay. He was also a keen sailor and had previously lived aboard a 26ft SCOD which he refitted and sailed to Norway and back. A remarkable and extremely capable man who is greatly missed.

At the time of his death he had taken on a new project, the restoration of a 31ft yacht. The boat has never been neglected and was in commission when John bought her- she was sailed from Stornoway to Raasay prior to the start of the refit. The Beta engine is in good order and she has good sails.

His friends and family are now looking for a new owner to take on the completion of the project. One of our friends has put together a blog with some more information about the boat. ... mr63uH8y8E

It would be a great tribute to John to see this boat brought back into commission by the right person. So if you are that person, or if you can think of somebody who might be, then please do get in touch.
