What is the panels' best estimate of the date for Fairwinds arriving in Ireland.

If it stops in the Scillie or Falmouth that is does not matter, it is the arrival date at the first port in Ireland.

In this instance, I see no reason to believe that the crew of Fairwinds have any better chance of forecasting their arrival date than the readers of this forum.

My bet is the 5th of August. It's based on a Sunday 8th July departure from the Azores and a stop off in Spain.

I would change that to the 25th of July if they travel straight to Ireland from the Azores.

This estimate is based on not having ever travelled in a Yacht or having been in the slightest boaty. Therefore you boaty types may have a better chance of estimating the arrival date.

OK

My ( guessed ) bet is on 4th of August 2007.

Only because that is the date they arrived in Ireland on the way out.

..in so far as your guess is as good as anyone's. For sentimental reasons I'll go for August 2nd since it was the date of their departure from Seil and it's also my birthday.

The day might be the same but I suspect there'll be a small differential in the years.

I don't know about the difference, if the pic on the avatar is anything to go by there may be a year or two.

I'm 49 this time, but you are as young as the woman you feel so that knocks 4 yrs off!!

It's looking good at the moment for a departure from Praia de Vitoria, Terceira, sometime on Monday 9th July, with a couple of days of gentle Southerlies to waft us up into some nice F3-4 NW winds on the beam for Galicia.

The first GoTo is likely to be Camarinas - approx. 850nm 066degT, but if it's looking good for a straight run to Ireland or Falmouth when we get further up we may change our minds. Nine days is a long time in the meteorological world at the moment.

We'd love to stay in the Azores longer, they are amazing - but it's been a long time and of course with this being our longest single leg so far we are keen to get on with it.

Sailed round to Praia today . . . now it's exactly 850nm to Camarinas.

Lovely marina - went for a swim off the beach (30m from boat) then had a bath . . . yes, a bath, first in eleven months . . . . wonderful, no need to come home at all now.

Plan is still to leave Monday and head for Spain, but all subject to revision . . .

We are flying out to La Coruna tomorrow and likely to leave by Sunday evening to cross the Bay to Vannes. So we wont get to meet - I would leave a tenner behind a bar, a la tcm, but ...... well, I won't.

I hope it goes well for you both.

Regards
Big Nick
