Point of Order
A number of visitors to this esteemed site use their boatnames as their Nom de Mouse.
Should you change your boat - bearing in mind all that stuff and nonsense about 'Change the name and change the luck' - technically ought your username be updated/amended?
I am aware that many visitors here are past the first flush. I therefore post on their behalf in an attempt to reduce confusion. It should also be noted that one of our number is going through the motions as I type.
I had a friend once, called Dick. He was named after his Father - also named Dick. To save the confusion the Father was known to one and all as Big Dick and my friend was Little Dick. Occasionally they would be referred to as Old Dick and Young Dick.
It was generally confusing at the best of times because the Grandfather was also named Dick and nobody was really sure whether or not Old Dick was in fact the Grandfather.
I did once hear him referred to as Dead Dick - clearly after his demise.
I hope you can see where this is all leading - imagine calling me Claymore when in fact my new boat is called All Rabbits Friends and Relations.
I should point out at this stage that I don't have a new boat and if I did it wouldn't be called All Rabbits Friends and Relations - now matter how much pressure Dear Heart and the Granddaughter apply.....

Re: Point of Order
I notice quite a few forum users change their names as a matter of either habit or to confuse. Then we play guessing games.
I'm not sure of the process. That, added to the fact that the incoming dosh from a sale wouldn't buy a canvas canoe, pretty well ensures that 'Sahona' will remain until my executor informs hyperspace of my demise.

Heavens Bill
I'd never have thought of that - Brilliant.
Otherwise we'd be getting all those 'Sahona,Sahona,Sahona posts cluttering up the forum.
I'll amend the Will, Will.
I trust it wont be for some time yet for either of us though......

Re: Point of Order
So if I wanted to change from Lordmacdonald to Orla how would I go about that?
Is this something that Silkie would deal with? Or would it have to go upstairs........

Here's blindly hoping! I did read (I think) an allusion to you having associated with the sawbones recently - hope all is now well,
and that you are still complete in body and soul.

Never a day without pain, Bill - but enough about me.
Its fine, they put a roll of chicken netting in there which feels a bit strange but am getting used to it.
Got my leg over on Monday - on the bike, he added for clarification.

Re: Point of Order
Surely using the boat name as a forum username creates a problem when one is a hairy-ar$ed male and the boat's name is very much feminine.
I just couldn't do with being called Isabella all the time, it would be like cross-dressing or wearing women's underwear (I imagine..).

Re: Point of Order
I changed my boat name to my screen name a couple of boats ago.
I don't think I will change boat names or screen names in the foreseeable future.
If I get another bilge keeler to do a round Britain and it's a naff name it may become Aquaplane II.
