Anyone got one going cheap? cable not required.

In the time-honoured tradition this is not an answer to your question but...
This is not an item to save a couple of quid on IMO. Given the difficulty of access, the difficulty of knowing what the problem is when the CG replies to your radio check with ""very weak and broken" and the potential importance of reliable comms in an emergency I would suggest buying the best you can afford (within reason) and fitting with the best quality cable and fewest connectors.
I like the Metz which I got from Salty John with all the necessary bits and which solved my "weak but readable" problems.
All IMO of course.
