Put 'em up, put 'em up!
Depends where you eat. Years ago onion bhajis were the only thing offered as picky starters in the London restaurants, while we had pakora in many flavours up here in Scotland. When I mentioned them to English owners, they either didn't want to know or said they were peasant food, but they were ALWAYS tastier and more varied than bhajis. It takes a while for an idea to migrate properly, I was treated with incredulity when I asked for a Balti up here. "That means bucket" was the reply, but they're everywhere now.
Next time you're up here, a visit to the ShishMahal (Glasgow) will correct your errant ways.
