Anchor Chain 30m of 8mm

Postby cpedw » Tue Apr 07, 2015 10:36 am

Actually 35m altogether but some of it is in poor condition.

The bad part is nearest the camera. That's a metre stick for reference at the front.

Here's a closeup of some of the rusty part.

But most of it is more like this.

Basically sound (for at least 30m anyway) but not quite in "as new" condition.

I've been using it for about 10 years. It works fine in a Lofrans windlass. I changed it for a 50m length courtesy of Marisca.

Location is Connel, Argyll. I can't help with delivery.

Would £50 be a starting point for negotiation?

"...I changed it for a 50m length courtesy of Marisca...."

I was about to post a similar "For Sale" ad for the chain I have rejected. Not so rusted as it was regalvanised by a wonderful Cumbernauld firm but while most of the 45m is fine, the last 10m are a bit wasted.

Giving had little to do with it, though gracious manners prevailed throughout.

I'll keep an eye out for that post. If the poor 10m is cut off, does that leave 35m or 45m?

I currently have about 30m of 1/4", but it has a shackle joint part way, and the anchor end it very rusty, and marks the deck.

I should have jumped in with your pallet delivery, but I was working away from home, and not organised.

Cheers

There's about 35mm of not too bad chain but a careful look shows some of the galvanising flaking off - obviously a shoddy job :D - but no rust.

Had a read back through an old thread - http://www.bluemoment.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5032&hilit=chain

35 m, heavier gauge, and no rust would do me nicely.

Let me know if you decide to sell.
