There is far too much choice....
I was going for the B&G Triton with Whitlock ram, but I started to amass Raymarine kit at bargain prices.
I had a quote for installation of B&G of £5400 inc parts and labour.
I got the C90W plotter for £1100 (£2100RRP), the P70R Control head for £370(£640RRP), the Ram Type 1 Linear as a bundle with an ST8001 head and a few SeatalkNG cables for £520, sold the head for £250 (RAM £1400RRP, Cables £85). Already have the Rudder Ref and Fluxgate installed (saving of £300). I got an SPX10 course computer refurbished from Raymarine for £485 (£1300RRP)
I have bought the B&G Triton instrument pack for £1015, an extra display head £370, and Raytec converter cable £20.
I also bought the Raymarine HD 256 colour Radar and cable with crossover for £1700. Mast mount was £85 new unused form a TOP Forumite.
I take delivery of the rest of the required cables and terminals etc this week, probably £120.
Of course I am selling the replaced equipment as an offset to total cost, but it is still expensive.
I still like the B&G stuff, and SIMRAD (now the same company) AP28 also has a good reputation.
As you say, a lot of choice.
