I saw this on FB.
Oban lifeboat was tasked this afternoon to confirm that a small dory type vessel, with 1 person on board, had reached its destination of Clachan Sound, Isle of Seil.
At 14.00 a concerned fisherman had contacted the lifeboat station having spoofed the dory heading south down Kerrera Sound. It appeared to be making heavy weather of it in the very strong southerly winds and heavy rain.
The ferry Isle of Mull reported a vessel in a position near the entrance to Clachan Sound and at 14.18 Oban lifeboat left her berth to investigate.
While heading south a lookout was established to search for the dory. At 14.40 the lifeboat was on scene at the reported position, a dory fitting the description of the vessel was located safely on a mooring/anchor in Clachan Sound. A person was also spotted near the dory.
On informing Stornoway Coastgaurd of the dory’s position, Oban lifeboat was asked to stand down.
Oban lifeboat proceeded back to station where she was refuelled and made ready for service at 15.25.
