Probably mechanical failure but there will be full MAIB study.

Lucky there were (apparently?) no boats on it at the time.

It is very close to the pier, but then so were/are the visitor moorings.

MV Hebrides is now in the Clyde and is going round in circles off Brodick (according to http://www.Marinetraffic.com). I hope they get the brakes fixed before she gets to Greenock - I'm on the JWD fuel berth, a direct line from the entrance.

I have it on good authority that the variable pitch prop failed. I would guess it failed 'ahead' given the carnage.

I enquired about keeping the boat there over the winter, but I'm somewhat put off that idea now. They never got back to me anyway, and probably have more pressing things to deal with now.
