Thats correct. The panel ammeter only shows load by the devices switched on, excluding the anchor winch (which is wired seperately, own isolator / breaker).
The engine control panel has an audible alarm, triggered by low oil pressure, overheat, low charge voltage etc. I figured that to be good enough. The electrics panel is less likely to be used while under engine than at anchor etc.
Moving to LED lighting from incandescent has lowered consumption a lot, but "toys" have probably brought that back to about the same now. We run only only two quite small batteries and haven't had a flat one yet, so seems to work.
