The entrance is approx. 3.5M NW by N from the most northerly point of Lismore (not to be used for navigation) but that's surely not what you're asking, is it?

That's exactly what I was asking - I'd never heard of it. (Or rather I thought I'd never heard of it, I actually tacked over to take a look a few years back, but had no recollection of the name.)

Anyway, Loch a Choire. Got it, ta.

I can recommend The Boathouse Restaurant there (although I have never arrived by boat).

Well I did arrive by boat last year, but the restaurant was fully booked :( . I debated whether it would be right in the circumstances to grab one of the vacant VBs, but eventually decided to anchor. There's a lack of suitable spots with good holding, but after some experimentation we found that the small circular shallow patch, surrounded by deeper water, in the NW corner worked well.

Will that be the famous Port Ramsey night clubs and beach bars then?

I think they were closed when I was last there - it was raining which might have had a bearing on it.

I've stopped there for lunch a few times, mostly anchoring in the SW corner, near a small stone house.
There are really unpredictable winds in that small loch, seem to roll off the hilltops and hit from any angle.
In lower windspeeds though it is a pleasant place. I don't think I'd stay a night there.
