Wow, thanks for the photo...I have had Impromptu for 3 years now...done a lot of work on the old girl...fantastic to have an old pic of her..

Thanks very much...

Karl

PS: Kind of thought the signs were similar to the ones when Calmac did the ro-ro extension.

I raced on her for a season a few years ago - a fine vessel.

Oi you lot! I didn't start this thread so you could start reminiscing about Contessas you have known. Now, if you were bringing Impromptu out to play at West Highland Week that would be different. As punishment I have passed your profile to the chatelaine of the Scottish revolutionary arm of the Contessa Owners' Association - that'll teach you.

Back to my pictures of the Border Agency's attempts to create fortress Britain - no Calmac involvement whatsoever though it's no a million miles from their latest triumph over the forces of the tartan taliban. The pier dries at LW springs, is awfy close to an overhead power line that Francis Chichester hit. That's enough for now except it's a stone's throw from one of Scotland's most visited tourist attractions.

Call me a cynic, but I don't think many here have known any Contessas, in the biblical sence or otherwise, with the possible exception of HRHA, and then I doubt it.

Surely not the wee pier at Callanish just below the Stones?

Sorry, been away at WHYW and starring on the Beeb Outdoor Show - available on podcast or again at 11.00am on Sunday am.

It is indeed the wee pier at Calanais. Apparently cruise ships come into Loch Roag and drop their punters off at the pier so they can visit the stones. Thus it becomes a "Port of Entry".

Did you not feel let-down that your class-winning performance didn't make it onto the results summary at the end? You wuz robbed!

Our appearance lasted all of 1.5 seconds, which probably suits our approximate level of performance in the race. :)
