Anyone have any tips on either of the above, regarding moorings/areas?
Any help gratefully received

The sailing clubs in Ireland would be able to advise. Many of them have moorings, and, in some, pontoons. Depends on your intended location, but I guess searching for, and contacting, the Irish clubs would be worthwhile.

Don't know about the Baltic, other than the Cruising Association having a strong Baltic Section.

how would you intend to enter the baltic - kategatt or keil canal ?

I'm still not sure as yet............just looking into the possibilities at the moment.

If I can find the courage and the confidence for the long crossing then I fancy going to Copenhagen and round the Danish Islands and next year.

I'm thinking of going in through Limfjord, northern Denmark entering at Thyboren.

I'm still trying to figure out how to get across the North Sea (yes, I know, by boat)

Its about 380 nms from the Forth to Denmark or I could go up to Peterhead,110nms,and then about 250nms to Stavanger then 150nms down to Denmark a total of 510nms, seems a bit of a trek, but shorter crossing.
