4108 part needed.

Postby sahona » Sat Oct 24, 2015 11:11 am

I broke my engine re-assembling it...
I'm looking for a small casting that fits on the top left of the heat exchanger on a perkins 4108 lowline, and is joined to the exhaust manifold by a short rubber hose. (freshwater cooling circuit)
The casting number is 37736070

Anyone with a scrapper in the shed like to sell a bit?

Thanks in anticipation,

My son managed to get it "processed" by someone he works with. Looks like a good job but I now need a 'soft' gasket that won't need too much torque. Considering making one out of that sticky toffee sacking tape that plumbers use, rather than cornflakes packet and hermetite.

If it's cool (<100°C) wouldn't rubber do the job?
Seminole.
Cheers Bob.

It's back in place on a bed of silicon 'gasket in a tube' but won't get torqued down for a day or two. The temp gauge stays around 80c or so, so I don't expect much in the way of pressure. This time I will be gentle with the spanner... Then I can get back to the original problem!
