Politics - do we want it here?

.
I have no objection to members discussing politics if they want to, but if you do want to then I would prefer to create a sub-forum for it in the members area.

It is difficult not to express one's frustrations and anger at the perceived idiocy of the politicos and other citizens of the UK, no matter what one's views, but I would much prefer no political views on this forum. I don't want to be prejudiced against fellow sailors that are stupid enough not to agree with me.

Yet again I find myself in complete agreement with Marisca.
As the originator of the "Friday" post I am at pains to add that it was not my wish for it to develop into a political rant. I don't believe that has happened but I would like to record my absolute dismay at the outcome of the referendum without wanting this thread to slide into a political stramash
I seem to be wanting everything!

No, people can't be trusted not to get personal when it comes to politics.

While my views may not be the same as others and I may have a robust opinion, I would hope that I can be judged on my hospitality and manners face to face, rather than my political views. However, politics defines people, or at least establishes a perception that you are either one of us or not one of us, which is pretty shallow really, or not, as the case may be.

+1 to the above posts.

I don't post to much on here but I read most things and always come away with a smile or a laugh.

The same can't be said for TOP, I come away angry and disliking to many people, I have no negative thoughts about anyone here, long may it continue.

Anyway for what its worth :saltire

I have voted for a specialist sub-forum, although I almost certainly wouldn't visit it.

I suspect it would wither on the vine once the immediacy of this referendum result is past, but it seems more in keeping with the ethos and style of this forum to divert political discussion rather than ban it outright.

Poly - from the Greek for "many", and tics are blood sucking creatures.

It was nice just to get away from most of it this weekend in Tarbert. I'm increasingly finding myself only listening to Radio 4 at half-six and Dave.

Oh - and the Seafood Festival was great too! :umbrella:

Sat in Denmark, I confess I have strayed into TOP and picked up some penalty points - apparently it is not on to call someone a Patronising Twat.
That aside, I marvel at the peace, sanity and friendliness of this place. May it last forever.

I really don't think I would use that sort of language on Bluemoment - it doesn't seem that sort of place, somehow.
