Clyde and Forth Coastguard closure meeting

Postby sahona » Fri Jun 15, 2012 5:53 pm

I've just received this - too late as it was last night, did anyone on here go or hear how it went?

Truth Be Told !

confirmed by the MCA today ! Forth Coastguard will cease to operate in September 2012 and Clyde Coastguard to hand over operational control to Belfast and Stornoway Coastguard in November 2012

Could you please promote if possible

Support Your Coastguard - Save Lives

A public meeting calling for the closure of Clyde Coastguard in Greenock to be called off has been arranged on Thursday 14 June from 6pm to 8pm in the Gamble Halls Gourock.

The Coastguard Union the PCS has managed to build cross party political support across the West of Scotland for their campaign against closure.

Thousands of members of the public have already written to the UK Government Minister expressing their concerns and asking for reassurance that lives will not be put at risk. To date the Minister has failed to reply.

The closure of Clyde Coastguard in November 2012 will not only impact on the local economy but will put public safety at risk.

The public meeting is your chance to find out what those risks are and what closure really means to you.

Kind Regards
