Loch Muick looking up to Lochnagar?

I thought that at first, but where's the Dubh Loch?

I agree with Shard - Loch Lee. Taken on a bus ride in from a rig Puddock?

I thought it was Lcohnagar (Dubh Loch hidden round the corner?). You can see the corries of Lochnagar (I believe !).

I stand to be corrected ofcourse.
Nick, no it was taken on the way to Nigeria, fixed wing. (Aberdeen -London - Lagos)

Definitely Loch Lee - the giveaway is the shape of the burn entering from the left of the picture and the small square plantation - shelter for a house- above it. The big crag at the head of the glen on the left looks interesting - Bruntwood Craig on Hunt Hill I think- but can't find any info on climbing there so presumably a heap of choss.

Good area for old scots names - particularly like the 'Shank of Flobbit' and ' The Fungle'.

OK, I stand corrected and thanks.
I looked at the original and when I zoomed in, what i took as the corries - wasn't.
The plantations of trees should have given the game away also. If you look closely though, the road leads up to the "car park" at Loch Muick???, the Western end of the Loch is very similar...........

I should know, I got airlifted off @ 1995 from the path from Dubh Loch at 1 in the morning (Only a case of being overdue, the track around Loch Muich had been avalanched and the chopper was in the area looking for others. We were making our own way back, when the Sea King hovered in front of us,winchman came down, asked for me by name - I was flattered- and offered us a lift to the car park. We experienced numerous problems on the descent, the major one being fatigue of a first time Cairngormer - but with plenty of Lakes experience. Give him his due, I think he was more exhausted from teaching Mon-Fri, travelling up then climbing -I was complimented later for my actions in negotiating the safe return of all in the party..... until I got home and the wife kicked the sh*t out of me!!!!)

Mind you, I wouldn't have fancied being a Luftwaffe pilot ......... apparently they regularly used Deeside as a route inland( to the West Coast) from Norway
(The airport I landed in today - Sola, Stavanger) was the major Luftwaffe base for UK air assaults in the early part of the war and the hotel I am in now was a 'resort' for officers and pilots)
