Leaving the boat near Mallaig

Hi
I'm planning a cruise for next year and I want to spend plenty of time around Skye, but I need to leave the boat somewhere from 10th June to 3rd July and get the train south. Visitmyharbour.com says there are some longer-term moorings at Mallaig - are they bookable, or is there a better solution?

How about leaving her on a mooring at Arisaig?

Or talk to the Glenuig Inn?

I was going to say Arisaig too.
Swinging moorings so cheaper, (I assume, not checked cheaper than Mallaig).
Railway within walking distance (on the same line as Mallaig). Quite pretty too.

Arisaig is a good bet.
Mallaig is a bit pricey IMHO and exposed to the N.
Further up, Kyleakin is cheap, being council run, but unless you're quite small you'll struggle to find a space amongst the locals and fishing boats.

Arisaig doesn't actually have any visitor moorings, all the moorings are permanent berths. When you visit you are given a berth of someone who they know won't be coming back that night. But still worth a phone call.
Another option could be Skye Yachts at Armadale, they'll do you a deal and are right next to the ferry back to Mallaig.
Mallaig does have swinging moorings which can be rented on a weekly basis.

Well I never knew that Arisaig was only full time moorings..

Worth a call to the Glenuig Inn as they have a good few moorings, not sure how you'd get there by public transport though.

Armadale always seems a bit exposed to me, but it must be OK if IoS Yachts use them all through the season.
There's also visitor buoys at Kyleakin and Broadford- the latter being a bit exposed to the north IMHO.

Know it's a bit late, but we used Portree moorings (local RNLI manages) Bus to the mainland and train from there, or free bus all the way if you're crumbly
