Re: There is hope

I managed to sneak the Avon flubber into the spare room before Xmas to stick a patch on the annoying slow leak. Almost got away with it!

There is hope

Spent yesterday on the boat in its shed. New exhaust pipe fitted, seacocks greased, Morse control fettled, new valves in bilge pump - actually felt like I achieved something for a change. I can see an end to it and am beginning to think about dates for launch. Better start going to the gym again!

1st Fall-out from Brexit?

The perfidious Frog has treated the flower of Brexitland with disdain. Let's hope our lot can do the same next Saturday.

Re: Profurl has disembowelled itself

I had to grind down the lugs of a new external circlip to make it fit. Only obvious after reassembly.

Re: Apropos of not very much

Don't get too good a tan - "they" may not let you back in. And then there will be the cavity search probably based on "intelligence" from a phone call suggesting you may be a "person of interest". Not that I'm in any way jealous!

Re: Profurl has disembowelled itself

The good news is you don't need to remove the SS bits to do the job. The bad news is they won't half get in the way when manoeuvring the circlip pliers and you need long internal and external yins.
Good luck!

Re: Apropos of not very much

Had you been born early in 1940 you would indeed be entering your 9th decade. Were you 90 year's old then you would be in your 10th decade. As a post war youngster I am only in my 8th decade. None of it matters, though.

Re: Apropos of not very much

I wish I could. Mortality is a reality and the best I can do is to encourage you to do everything you want to do as soon as possible. Visit all the anchorages you have wondered about, visit the countries that you want, sky-dive, go for a few laps of Knock Hill, go to concerts, basically do everythin...

I was thinking more of Danny Devito or Bob Hoskins.

Where wuz Claymore?

Due to a vicious bout of lurgy visited upon me by my awfy cute grand-daughter I have been watching umpteen episodes of "The Crown" on Netflix. Series 3 seems to be the latest round and the lady with whom Claymore's name has been linked here on more than one occasion has now grown from chil...

Re: Snow, Where Is The Snow?

The weather outside is dreadful, and the peasants are getting fretful. The gales are about to blow - let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Re: Tunnocks Flotilla May 2nd 2020

As one who is growing old disgracefully and enjoying most of it I am at best ambivalent about the flotilla idea. While not sharing Boyd's political views I have huge respect for the man and have benefited from his generosity and support for sailing. I have also benefited from the RNLI and am very gr...
