Re: Coast line cops on ITV now.

Unfortunately, apart from one guy turfed out the Mishnish (what the hell do you have to do that gets you turfed out the Mishnish? - other than make disparaging remarks about the bears) there was no action except a Honda O/B that wouldn't start - now that is news! Scarborough, on the other hand, seem...

Re: Happy Birthday

Many thanks. I was going to go for a wee sail to mark the occasion (like I need an excuse?) but not a breath of wind, thick fog and a sad lack of temperature dissuaded me.

Re: It looked too good to be true!

Looks like the site has been pulled now anyway. Sorry, that was me doing copy + paste from the email text. In the email if you were cavalier enough to click on it, it redirected you to http://www.hmrc.gov.uk.formsrefunds.com/tax.file.number/refund.php?item=248174125491817 In the unlikely event of t...

A link from "Clyde Sailing" which certainly brings back memories for me. How my generation didnae all drown or die of hypothermia without 150N LJs, Musto HPX, and all the rest ...

It looked too good to be true!

... and of course, it is a scam. Got an email purporting to be from HM Government complete with fake https:// address. No idea how the perpetrators intend to extract money from me with it, and I don't intend to find out. You have been warned! HM Revenue & Customs Tax Credit Office Preston PR1 0S...

Re: What's the plan in 2010?

I'm under severe pressure to 'do' the Clyde again next season. Can't see it lasting 2-1/2 months though. I think I need a cunning plan, help anybody? Malts cruise? - the D-I-Y version is fun though there may be a limit to the number of times seeing a pot still is exciting but a lot of distilleries ...

Re: What's the plan in 2010?

I seem to be in the water till 1st Feb - apparently the tides at Port Edgar are too late all January! Sunday racing until 20th December, 1st footing RFYC on 2nd Jan and day sails when it feels right until the lift. For next year it's back to the Clyde, definitely NOT through the Carron/Clyde ditch -...

You're spoiling that boat! Careful she disnae dry out too much in her luxury accommodation - she'll leak like a sieve next August when you get round to putting her back in the water.

Re: What a lovely day!

Another sunny day on the Forth! 26 yachts this week but only 3 Lasers going round the cans. Wind was variable but apart from one gust that caused a wee spinnaker broach (in a CO32!) never reached the forecast. Not too chilly and the rain stayed off till I was driving home.

What a lovely day!

I have no idea what it was like where you were but the Forth had a lovely sunny day, a bit light on wind in the morning but the breeze came away nicely in the afternoon. It was so nice that when the racing stopped (just 23 yachts out and 7 dinghies) a lot of boats continued to sail rather than go ba...

Garmin GPS 128

Somehow while racing yesterday the screen of my cockpit mounted GPS 128 (yes I know it's a bloody stupid place to put it) got a dunt and it is now totally illegible with what looks like a cracked internal glass. The electrickety bit still functions and talks to the chart table repeater ok. Anyone go...

Commodity or singularity

I have been struck by the venal attitude of posters in TOP on subjects like "Is a VAT receipt necessary" and other boat selling topics. Their aim seems to be to grab as much as possible for as little as they can get away with. This market trader attitude is probably acceptable with baked b...
