Oban lifeboat tasked to Dory in Clachan Sound.

I saw this on FB. Oban lifeboat was tasked this afternoon to confirm that a small dory type vessel, with 1 person on board, had reached its destination of Clachan Sound, Isle of Seil. At 14.00 a concerned fisherman had contacted the lifeboat station having spoofed the dory heading south down Kerrera...

Re: Englandshire survives

I am saddened that I cannot work up any real sympathy for our southern neighbours. I know I should, that their lives have been disrupted, property has been damaged, power lines are down, one 14 year old boy has been washed away, and all the rest, but my underlying feeling is what a stushie over a w...

Further TOP Madness...

A newbie is asking about Keyhaven on TOP. It's astonishing how people over-dramatize things in their heads. For those Blue-momenters who don't know it, there's nothing dramatic or different about Keyhaven. It's quite nice by Solent standards mud, no rocks. Just an average place. No dangers or diffic...

Re: Foula

The Edge of the World . The British Film Institute DVD of the film also includes 70s BBC footage of Michael Powell and John Laurie etc making a return visit to Foula, and footage from 1923 and 1928 of St Kilda. Thanks, so you got there way before me, wonder how I missed that thread. Anyway I must h...

Foula

Just watched a black and white film featuring Corporal Fraser. Apart from featuring the great man it showed off a great deal of the Island of Foula.

Just read a little bit about the island, quite an interesting place.

Re: Proofreading time again please

I haven't had a good long read but the site is exactly to my taste. Really simple, no b0llo0ks. The off season price looks spot on and I have real affection for Longbows. The description of the Clyde is spot on: "safe, sheltered and with a wealth of facilities yet still wild enough to get away ...

So what kind of boat is it? It has the look of a Farrier.

Thanks, I would have missed that.
