Re: What would you do next....

From what you have written, I would say that they exercised plan B, being the most foolhardy. To answer your question "what would you do" as if it were "what would you have done" I would have stayed put at anchor. To answer it as if it were "what you would then have done&quo...

Re: Towing a rigid dinghy

Good idea, a corollary to that would be to remember to be careful if deciding to reverse to set an anchor. We managed to wrap a floating line round the prop doing so in a chartered cat having been told to make sure we towed the dinghy with lots of painter out. (and to haul the dingy in before revers...

Re: Do you know where this is?

Yes that neck of the woods is geomorphologically uninteresting, mucky,midge-infested,litter-strewn, and generally not worth dropping an anchor into the poor-holding gloop. :|

So your answer is yes... :D .

The colour of the water was misleading, especially when taking a dip.

Sorry, I can't quite get the hang of selective quoting.

Re: Linnhe Marina - experiences?

Oops. I'm sorry, I didn't really convey what I meant to say....an embarrassment on a forum full of brilliant communicators! I was trying to craft a clever reply to the notion that it was fortuitous that the storm wind was from the southwest at Dallens Bay last May (2011). Your comments cannot be fau...

Re: Linnhe Marina - experiences?

During the May storm last year, no boats parted their moorings, but quite a number did so elsewhere on the west coast. Don't you think that might have been good fortune because of the direction of that particular storm? answer ... yes, but on the other hand no. My recollection of the storms passing...

Re: Linnhe Marina - experiences?

I would fully endorse Shard's comments. Paul and Nick are exceptionally helpful and cheerful. The moorings too are good. During the May storm last year, no boats parted their moorings, but quite a number did so elsewhere on the west coast.
