Re: Are you methodical when re-fitting?

I have to confess that I too have that tendency to be doing several jobs at once, however on the boat I try really hard to discipline myself to finish what I'm doing before moving onto another job, unless of course I'm waiting for bits. I write a list during the summer months in my maintenance book,...

Re: Spring is around the c orner

What a week last week was, got all my jobs done including the teak on deck cleaned and Dek Ole'd, not often I can get that done in March. As They say in Lancashire " jobs a guddun" Not only that, I got a shake out sail around Kerrera, not much wind but did manage to get round without using...

Re: Rothesay and Port Bannatyne

Very interesting thread, thanks for it. My boat is under 10m so should not have a problem. However she is a long keel boat and I'm afraid she often won't go where I want when going astern, so a tight space can be a bit hairy.I will check out Kames, Having said that I do like going to Rothesay, very ...

Re: Spring is around the c orner

For the Engineers and sceptics of which I am both, frogs lay more frogspawn when the future is to be dry hoping that some at least will survive. Be aware that this explanation has a lot to do with a glass or two of Laphroig whisky celebrating a successful launch and absolute optimism for the summer ...

Spring is around the c orner

Wey-hey, Dark Island back in the water an by tomorrow sails will be bent on and ready to go. Engine oil and filters changed deck scrubbed, winters gunge all gone. Frog spawn in abundance on Kerrera a sure sign of a dry summer, never seen as much at this time of the year for years. Weather set to imp...

Re: MCA - idiots

Funny you should not have got a reminder letter Nick, I have just renewed my registry and they sent me a reminder that it was about to expire. Given that the registry lasts for 5years I would have thought a reminder was essential for most people, I certainly would have not remembered without a remin...

Re: Maw Broon 'racist'

We all take the p*ss out off political correctness and sometimes it shows up the prejudice in some people. However its, in my view quite dangerous. I am not, never have been never will be, racist. I am not never have been, never will be sexist, or xenophobic or homophobic or any other phobic, but th...

Time to start this years jobs

Well the time I have been waiting for since October came round, time to go and check Dark Island out see how she has survived the winter on her own. Don't know about anyone else but it is always a time when I look forward to but feel a bit apprehensive about what I will find. Suppose if you live nea...

Re: Anyone have this book?

Just spent this winter building a bigger workshop so that I could have a crack at building a small boat, for next winters project. So this thread was interesting because started to think about plans and wood etc. Contemplating what book to buy. Would be interested to hear when you get the book if yo...
