Well you miserable gits, total earnings for the month to date are 10p.

I find it hard to believe none of you have been buying chrissy pressys from Amazon.

I find I am using Amazon a lot less since they raised the bar for free delivery to £20.

Re: Good news and not-so-good news

The artificiality of it all hit me when we called in at Cadiz on a cruise ship in October. Despite being several degrees west of the most westerly point of the UK and actually being so far west that their best time zone would be UTC - 1, they use European time, which at that time was UTC + 2. Derek

Try the button with the quote mark on it to the right of the one with the exclamation mark, on the top line of every post.

We wondered when the dolphins sleep as they were playing round our bow in the dark. We then wondered if they wondered the same thing - "When do humans sleep?" Dolphins are unusual among mammals in that they sleep with half of their brain at a time - the ones you saw might have been half a...

Re: Avoid letting people down.

Although some of the inequality of the days and nights at the equinox is indeed due to refraction allowing us to see a sun which is in fact below the horizon, much more is due to the asymmetry of how we define day and night. Consider the case of a hypothetical day when the time between the sun's hem...

Re: Politics - do we want it here?

I have voted for a specialist sub-forum, although I almost certainly wouldn't visit it. I suspect it would wither on the vine once the immediacy of this referendum result is past, but it seems more in keeping with the ethos and style of this forum to divert political discussion rather than ban it ou...

A good decision, in my view. That way you will discover the snags, idiosyncrasies and broken and missing bits of your new boat in a safer and more manageable way.

Not unless there is some suggestion that a crime has been committed.
(The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) is Scotland’s prosecution service.)
Perhaps you meant the Crown Estates?

I don't know if this is any use to anybody, or if the stuff is any good, but I was in B & Q today and saw that they sell silicone spray at about £5 a go. I only mention this as I know somebody who paid £20 for a similar size of McLube last weekend - and I think that is a silicone spray so I ass...
