I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours...

But was this Claymore's mishap or Silkie's? I am still further intrigued. Mine was reported in full and gory detail in PBO (around December 2000 I think, under the headline "Scotch on the rocks").

West Coast charts folio

I see the Admiralty has produced a new small craft folio centred near Oban http://www.admiraltyleisure.co.uk/prodservs/charts/sc_folios_sc5611.asp It looks as if it would suit me very well and not too expensive (£37.50 I hear). Does anyone have experience of this type of product? Are they any use? ...

Yacht lost off Kerrera

While I was out at the weekend, I heard on the VHF of the loss of a yacht on the south west corner of Kerrera. They went aground around midday after I think losing their engine. By the time the lifeboat got there, they were taking in a lot of water and in spite of a diesel pump, there was no hope of...

A good book, unexpectedly

We were very disappointed to find ourselves and our (then brand new to us) boat not mentioned in this despatch since we had a very close encounter with Grace O'Malley's impressive bowsprit in Whitby. Oh well, some day we might be notable!

Calendar pics

Hello,
I tried to send a picture for your calendar to pictures@bluemoment.com but it bounced; User unknown.
Are you still seeking submissions from elsewhere (quality variable!)?

Many thanks for the tip about Cmap Max Dave; I had seen the sexy ads but not registered that it was anything to do with me. Their coverage seems better but as you mention, not many plotters use them and they seem to be the very expensive ones.
I'll wait for developments I think...

A Scottish view on Chart Plotters

After reading some very favourable magazine comment and a few internet comments, I got enthusiastic about an electronic chart plotter. I was thinking of a Navman (uses C map charts) or Lowrance (uses Navionics). But I was disappointed with the coverage of the electronic charts (and the cost) when I ...

Now you're back from all that adventuring, can we please have our next instalment of the calendar? Some of us were working yesterday, you know!
