How well does she play the harmonica?
Is more harmonica solos the answer to Brexit?

Store No Way coastguard dalek

Probably last sail of the season today - spoiled by the MSI announcement from Stornoway. Even Stephen Hawking had a less unpleasant timbre. Since the message is just to listen on channel x for the Stornoway weather forecast, couldn't they record a real voice rather than use a poor computer synthesis...

Re: Broadford Bay Skye developments?

It can be a useful place to get your breath back after negotiating Caolas Scalpay but apart from that, I agree there's not much point.

That's a very low SSR number. Does Claymore qualify as a Vintage vessel?

Re: Well my Buckos

Depression can take many forms don't you think? Well, after a pleasant if Autumnal weekend jaunt to Craighouse for the Jura Music Festival on the good ship Fairwinds we are off to Greece in a fortnight for a week's cruise with Ocklepoint. https://sailingreece.co.uk/oddessy-2/ . . . then it is back ...

Any news from the west?

WHAM are trying to get information about facilities in the Western Isles. There have been several pontoon developments in the last couple of years and the old scheme of a month's ticket for all W.I. moorings (excluding Stornoway) seems to have been withdrawn. If you were out that way this year, what...

Re: Oban Bay Notice to Mariners

Claymore's incident was reported here. There's little doubt that Calmac are keen to highlight the number of incidents but when pressed how many reports there have been to MCA or MAIB they go quite quiet. That's not to deny that the North Channel in mid summer is a very busy place and there are some ...

Oban Bay Notice to Mariners

CMAL have issued a Notice which mostly reiterates that the ferries are big and deep and it's a narrow channel but also says they should show 3 reds or a cylinder to make it clear. And specially for Claymore, it asks masters of large vessels to stick to their speed limits. Clearly the Mighty Weapon h...

Wednesday evening in Obam

Freeform acoustic music from about 8 musicians in the Oban Inn. I think it's a Wednesday regular event. Well worth 30 of Telo's £s on the new pontoons to join in.

Oban Bay Harbour Authority - developments

Results from the online survey are now available http://obanharbour.scot/information/oban-bay-management-group/stakeholder-submissions/ in four pdfs. There were over 550 responses, almost unanimously opposed to a CMAL harbour authority, over 80% from leisure boaters. Oban Bay Management Group (CMAL,...

Yes, I got an invitation to give them a call to discuss things further. I'll see what transpires at Wednesday's meeting before I take up the offer.

Public Meeting about Oban Bay harbour authority

Wed 18 Jul 6.00pm. Corran Halls, Oban Esplanade.

Oban Bay Management Group (another disguise of CalMac/CMAL) has organised a public (it was originally meant to be for local businesses only) meeting to discuss their plans for Oban Bay harbour authority.
