New WHAM website

West Highland Anchorages and Moorings (WHAM)’s website has been revamped to make it more useful and accessible on mobile phones as well as on computers. There is an Obstruction Reporting form and information on forming a Moorings Association or laying a Private Mooring. There are links to useful for...

The dacoblue 10l plastic backpack looks a good idea until you see the price - £85. My preference is for 10l plastic cans. They are much easier to handle than 25l when full and they don't corrode.

I just found this https://stv.tv/news/scotland/1434509-funding-boost-to-help-preserve-heritage-of-scottish-canals/?fbclid=IwAR2McDcPNEjHO7VG44RP1HUKjgSpyXqVl1Ui-mv6bEuDV71oSErBOSaAf7A on Facebook sailing cruising Scotland. The Caledonian seems to be safe if the work starts soon (someone on FB predic...

Re: Forth and Clyde this year?

There has been a long discussion on TOP, some of which may be accurate. I was left with the impression that a lot of dosh has been put up but it may not be enough and the time needed will be well into this summer, at least.

Re: Antares charts

Yes installation is a bit lengthy and you do need the licence number that Bob provides but I don't remember an extra fee apart from buying the UKHO package. When Antares is installed, you should be able to see at least a file called AC selector ... in the Map List if Memory Map is looking at somewhe...

Re: Claymore has grown a pair ... and a bit

Virtual pint if you guess the stretch of water;-) It looks like the Flying Dutchman which is renowned in my circles for not straying beyond the Sound of Mull, anywhere between Oban and Tobermory. Occasionally to be found perched on the Scrat. The background looks to me a lot more like Holland than ...

Boaty contractors in the Oban area

This list https://www.dropbox.com/s/18uudtcaworeqj5/Creran%20list%20of%20Contractors.jpg?dl=0 is posted in the office at Creran Marine of people who do work of various sorts on boats. No particular recommendation, though Robert de Sadeler has looked after Dogdays' engine for the last 2 years. He's d...

Re: Greece

I could mention that following our pleasant experience in the Ionian in the early 1980's, we went on to enjoy a Lycian coast cruise in Turkey. That was a bit too hot for me but otherwise enjoyable. We tried repeating that in 2015 but it was hugely overcrowded with ebullient Russians. I think that ha...

Sorry Nick, I would have told you if I'd known of this gap in your knowledge base. We first went on a flotilla in the Ionian with the in-laws in about 1980. I was the most experienced sailor - 2 weeks on the Norfolk Broads and a Day Skipper theory course behind me. We had a fantastic time and learne...

Is TOP broken?

I can't get into the forums. The main ybw site seems to work OK but following a link to the forums goes to forums.ybw.com/forums/ instead of www.ybw.com/forums and says "The resource was not found".

For completeness, I tried Chrome and Edge on Windows 10. Is it just me?
