. But then you my old sausage are a sensible and non-dogmatic person. Thanks for that, however I expect Desperate Dan will be along in a minute to shatter the illusion.:-) OTOH, claiming to be an all-knowing guru of the new way is not the sort of behaviour I would relish in a skipper. Re: AIS

. Now it seems I am arguing against another bunch of fools who seem to want to navigate by AIS at all times. They don't seem to understand that making a course alteration based on a CPA calculated by AIS from a ship twelve miles away is a mug's game. The CPA is based on data available at that time ...

I find the AIS overlay is particularly useful on Radar. Yes but with qualification. One of the most annoying things about AI...

Getting rain water out of the tubes following an Argyll summer is not easy!

Re: Dopey question

We have elected to stay in this year with heat and dehumidifier, the question I have is, do I remove the sails etc to reduce windage leaveing the boat unsailable, or do I leave the sails on and the boat effectivly in commision?

Re: Sailed past this last week

Sahona when I think of it with your nom de plume you should be familiar with Es Vedra as you can see it from Cala Sahona in Formentera. Is that the reason for choice of name? I have stayed at the hotel there but thankfully not this last week but will leave Sliced Sausage to tell you that story. :) ...

We have self tacking on the stay sail.

Fantastic for beating with a reefed main in strong winds.
Makes short tacking a breeze!
