Re: Prop - antifoul?

Personally, I have found a good polish and a coat of waterproof grease works just fine. I am told it also works well on propellers. I did try some very expensive pink stuff called "propshield" or something like that once, application involved heating the propeller or melting the stuff. It ...

Re: Legal issues: Title required for Nick

If I may be so bold, perhaps in view of the current circumstance the following should be considered.

Claymore is temporarily elevated to Cruise Chairman and Executive Director whilst Nic is appointed Executive Cruise Director 2010.

I saw one in Tarbert also, but, the one I saw was the Claymore Claymore that is not Claymore's Claymore Claymore. Not a stitch of green on it! :)

Re: All's not well

I must humbly apologize for the current unsettled weather.

I had hoped to make passage round the Mull last week, the forecast Easterlies convinced me to leave it until the coming week.

Deep joy! :(

Re: M'Aidez - RYA guidelines

When I did YM in 1986, it was bearing from, known mark then distance, in that order. So 270 deg, Portland Bill Light, 5 miles. It is certainly quoted as such by Bernard Heyman on a cassette tape of VHF procedure which was supplied with Yachting Monthly around that time. Although, the known mark was ...

Re: St Kilda

I know it is not the same as sailing your own boat but there is a boat Orca does trips to St Kilda from Harris. http://www.kildacruises.co.uk/trips/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; . Your SnapDraggon has been to St Kilda twice, bout time it went with you on board, don't you think?

Re: Flare Disposal (Non-Fashion Items)

Personally speaking, I am not convinced by the laser flares. A few years ago, when laser flares were first available they tested one across Poole bay and found it difficult/impossible to spot. The other problem is that it is not an officially recognised distress signal, so someone who sees it may no...

Re: Online Estate Agents

Try S1 for homes, Prime Location and Rightmove, although, not even they will have every property for sale in Argyll. Finding property in Argyll isn't easy and, the local property agents dont make it any easier. We found it so difficult that as a retired Estate Agent, I have thought about seting up a...

The wee puff of wind we had on Saturday night had the BBH wind farm working hard, batteries showed 100% yesterday.

Last years 2 stroke

Do not attempt to burn damp garden waste using left over two stroke mix as an accelerant!

If you add a steep slope and a dry stone retaining wall to the equation, the result can be very impressive.
