BEE seem to be the Raymarine dealer at Kip, I'll contact them in the first instance. TVM

Re: Crinan Canal

I left Gigha @ 07:00 and had foul tide until I was 5 miles off the lighthouse, the tide had been fair to go round for an hour by then. Vis was crap, I could only see Kintyre or Arran, seldom both. I had a fair tide all the way to Skipness and more wind than enough but the SOG was always above 5 kts ...

Autopilot fix or replace, who to go to?

The Autohelm 4000 on Seminole doesn't work and I want it to. In the first instance I want someone to look at the existing (1982) setup and see if it can be fixed. If it can't I want to replace what needs replacing hopefully reusing the hydraulic bits. The Raymarine site suggests dealers at most yach...

Re: Crinan Canal

I did too, I left Ardminish bay about 07:00 and only saw 2 other boats, and one going the other way.

I got to Tarbert 20:30, it was a long day.

Re: Lost my Cuan cherry

We went through last year to show my son how interesting it was. What a letdown, went through at neaps just as the tide went with us, boring. After a night in Puiladobhrain I thought, show him Pladda, same thing, nothing. Came through Cuan a couple of weeks ago at half flood, wow, swirly bits, knots...

I couldn't have put it better myself.

I saw you in the LOTI last Thursday evening but was eating with a gang. By the time I was able to wander you were gone. Anyway, cheers.

Re: Happy Birthday

I got very soggy anchoring at Bunessan but soon got warmed up when Stormy produced a chicken curry for my birthday tea.

His Silkyness shared our birthday meal at Loch Aline last year and texted to invite us out again but Mull came between us.

Re: Where not to be

We were greeted with a fine sight of yachts as we exited Oban Bay by the North channel. It was a bit busy in Dunstaffnage last night but it's where Erica's car was so we didn't have much choice in where we parked. We went to the prize giving with some friends from Windermere who had been competing. ...

Re: Where not to be

We seem to be leading the fleet, but are 4 days infront of them :D

Tobers tonight. I don't think it would be worth hanging about just to see the fun, and suspect we wouldn't be thanked if the place is already full when they turn up.

Re: Campbeltown

Was there last night, Port Ellen tonight, there was some rafting going on but max 2 deep, maybe half a dozen doubled up. I like it. Lots of help on hand, maybe local berth holders in some cases but welcoming none the less. On a walk to Tesco I had the thought, "it's a long way to come to drop t...

Re: Buying without a broker

I passed you as I was entering Largs today. It took a while for the penny to drop who you were and then this thread came to mind when I saw the boat name. You were well passed by then. I was the bloke waving like a loon as you were peering at the other Westerly on the fuel berth, you either didn't s...

Re: Crinan Canal - updated

I helped bring Chiron to lock 10 from Crinan today, it wasn't my choice, the new owner wanted to go through instead of round. It seemed much as I remembered it from previous transits. We locked in about 2 and stopped about 5 and did better than we had planned, only expected to get to Crinan Bridge. ...
