Re: Ulva Ferry Pontoon

I'm in Mirfield.

Doing boaty stuff though, cancelling ships radio licence for Chiron and applying for a new one for Seminole, and other stuff.

Bringing mum up on Friday for a couple of weeks in the Clyde.

Re: Autopilot fix or replace, who to go to?

I would start by removing all plugs and other connectors, cleaning them all up & putting them back on. It could be as simple as a corroded fitting. If that doesn't work, the professional option might be the best one if you're not into dismantling stuff! That will be my next action. I can disman...

Re: Autopilot fix or replace, who to go to?

It would help if I gave the right info, it's an Autohelm 5000 like in this manual http://www.fujiyachts.net/manuals/Autohelm%205000%20Manual%20Ver%202.PDF There is no display, just a couple of LEDs on the control unit. We do have an auxiliary control panel but no wind vane or hand held remote. I hav...

Re: Autopilot fix or replace, who to go to?

Well, I would prefer not to just throw money at it but being a realist there may be an aspect of that in the solution. I found a letter from Raymarine to Dad saying they had had a look at the controller and found nothing wrong with it. Mum is 81 and can't remember what Dad did in the past, but may r...

BEE seem to be the Raymarine dealer at Kip, I'll contact them in the first instance. TVM

Re: Crinan Canal

I left Gigha @ 07:00 and had foul tide until I was 5 miles off the lighthouse, the tide had been fair to go round for an hour by then. Vis was crap, I could only see Kintyre or Arran, seldom both. I had a fair tide all the way to Skipness and more wind than enough but the SOG was always above 5 kts ...

Autopilot fix or replace, who to go to?

The Autohelm 4000 on Seminole doesn't work and I want it to. In the first instance I want someone to look at the existing (1982) setup and see if it can be fixed. If it can't I want to replace what needs replacing hopefully reusing the hydraulic bits. The Raymarine site suggests dealers at most yach...

Re: Crinan Canal

I did too, I left Ardminish bay about 07:00 and only saw 2 other boats, and one going the other way.

I got to Tarbert 20:30, it was a long day.

Re: Lost my Cuan cherry

We went through last year to show my son how interesting it was. What a letdown, went through at neaps just as the tide went with us, boring. After a night in Puiladobhrain I thought, show him Pladda, same thing, nothing. Came through Cuan a couple of weeks ago at half flood, wow, swirly bits, knots...

I couldn't have put it better myself.

I saw you in the LOTI last Thursday evening but was eating with a gang. By the time I was able to wander you were gone. Anyway, cheers.

Re: Happy Birthday

I got very soggy anchoring at Bunessan but soon got warmed up when Stormy produced a chicken curry for my birthday tea.

His Silkyness shared our birthday meal at Loch Aline last year and texted to invite us out again but Mull came between us.
