Re: New anchor chain and stuff.

But it's such a bleeding faff, can't I just get some chain and research a windlass later? The ones I have looked at don't say owt about uppy downy buttons, they look like optional extras. I liked the hand jobie on a curly wire we had on the Sailing Holidays boat. Are foot buttons good or is there a ...

New anchor chain and stuff.

The anchor chain on Seminole is rusty, certainly the end 10-20 meters so I'm wondering about replacing it. I don't know the history of the chain so it could be the original 1982 stuff which on a Jeanneau could be metric or imperial? I have looked at the gypsy on the manual S/L windlass and can't fin...

Why they think they can be accurate six days hence is beyond me, the first 3 days may be close but after that it's a lottery.

Naaa, that wouldn't work it would mean that folk have to take their eyes off their plotter and look at the scenery.

Re: Brokers- perhaps not a total waste of time after all

When we were looking for a boat on the west coast I went and asked in a marina between Ardfern and Oban what they had for a £10,000 budget. "Oh you want a fixer upper do you, we don't have anything like that". I got a well equipped, sailable Centaur for £6000. But not on the West Coast. I ...

Re: Claymore's Bits and Pieces

My chart table is high off the ground without much head room, does Senga have long legs and a short back? Just asking?

Re: Forth and Clyde this year?

Best to ask them. They did have some limited transits by hiring a crane last back end IIRC. I heard they got a boat load of grant money but spent it all on the Calley. Also heard they are repairing one of the lift bridges but I thought that 2 were bust. Ask Scottish Canals, they might know, but migh...

Re: Antares charts

I just bought Antares charts this week too, I can't get Memory Map to work properly yet, the Antares charts come up when I click on them though.

I thought it would be like Open CPN where they load seamlessly as I scroll around.

I'll keep the paper charts at the ready for now.

Re: Marina Pods – the innovation that gives you access to renewable energy on the water

Just been given rather short shrift by the 'Management' who were quick to defend their "wave screen" Ah well - perhaps we should get one installed in Pullers to complement the existing pontoon structures that are in place? Don't start giving ideas to money grabbing capitalists. We don't n...

Re: Claymore has grown a pair ... and a bit

Hmmm, yes the trees may be the giveaway there. I had a discussion with my husband* about the set up of the rigging and mast height -so ten years on this Forum have not been a total loss. To be fair, I had to Google because a Schooner didn't fit (masts shorter from back to front) but Barque didn't s...

Re: Will there be a wake?

And the other thing, Stormy got the "I'm going to pull the plug " email, but I didn't, but I wasn't hurt or dejected. I did think that it was a bit quiet before the message but don't like to post stuff just for the sake of it. Going to ask about chain soon, despite not knowing how big it i...

Re: Will there be a wake?

Someone mentioned facebook, facebook groups are huge and can be useful, but they are excrement compared to forums. They actually move too fast, the information is not easily searched for, and it is very much, of the moment only. Try finding an interesting cruise someone did from 9 months ago if you...

I though that Claymore was one of the surveyors for Antares? You seem to do better than most at finding stuff lurking underwater

To be fair, we both did it before and know what to expect, and did it anyway, eyes wide open and all that.

Anyway, it was a good thing to do so feck off with your negativity.

Got loads of whisky for wedding pressies so Seminloe is party boat until it's gone.
