On arrival at San Miguel, both Jenny and I were shocked to see just how salty and nautical both Nick and Kathy looked. Nick had developed a disturbing tendency to take a sun-sight at regular intervals on our wander round the town and giving us compass bearings to the on-shore facilities, and could b...

When are you off Tim? I'm up this weekend and was thinking I should at least come down and look at Nick's dinghy. Next Weds. Drop in on your way past - I haven't done anything with the dinghy yet, we're having something of a glut of apathy and I am trying to use it all up before spring. BTW, got a ...

You need a pop-up blocker - I think. Certainly I don't get ads over posts though there is sometimes an issue with them on the news pages and maybe elsewhere for all I know. I've got every species of popup blocker I can find. Perhaps registered users don't get the ads? I haven't bothered, not really...

I tried your link to YBW, Nick. Any idea what is the point of a forum which places adverts over the posts so that you cannot read them? I shall not be visiting the "other place" again, methinks, waste of time. Harrumph and stuff.

If you can hold your head up in the T&T, you really should be thinking about another few pints - people will stare at such unconventional, not to say freakish, behaviour. Has the quasi-Mediterannean culture of the Canaries gone to your head, man? You haven't started drinking "in moderation&...

They paid £80k (IIRC it was on for offers over about £35k), and spent 70k (so far). They would bet a lot more than £150 if they sold it now, that's for sure. Not sure if I could live on such a busy road though - must be 3 or 4 busses go past it every day :D Mind you, now they are TV stars, the to...

That Tim Bowles is a bit of a jinx on the wind. I've had him aboard three times now and there hasn't been more than 15 minutes of decent breeze in total. Still, if he has the same effect when he takes me up in his microlight I'll be quite happy. Sadly not. Since I got the wing re-mantled and fitted...

OK. Figured it out and they're history. That was 4 spam sign-ups since I cleared them out just after 1800. I'm not too sure about Lisa_B24 either but decided to give the benefit of the doubt on the grounds that a B24 might be a vessel of some description. Lisa_B24 keeps turning up in Seil chat too,...

Noon 18th November

18th November Noon Position: 29deg 41.9 N 016 deg 11.21 W 82 miles from Santa Cruz de Tenerife Yesterday afternoon we came across a drifting dismasted yacht. Circled round as close as practical - washboards out, no-one on board. Sounded the foghorn a feq times to rouse anyone, then phoned Falmouth M...

Just got a call from Nick via the miracle of Iridium. Noon position today N 31 19.1 , W 16 27.8. Running before a F7 most of the day, apparently. They came across an abandoned yacht, looking a bit scraggy. It was too rough to board, but they sailed round it a couple of times blasting the foghorn but...

If you are still receiving, Silkie will be unavailable for position reports for a day or so as he is with me trying to find a hole in the alleged gales we are supposed to be having to move up to Dunstaffnage. Likely to be here a couple of days so send position reports here & I'll see he gets the...

Nick & Kathy arrived in La Coruna about 0830 this morning (Wednesday 23rd). Seem to have found a rather nice marina, and after the rigours of Biscay (more alarming in the anticipation than in the crossing itself, it would seem), I suspect a libation may be consumed.

Received a message from Nick last night (Monday 21) via the wonders of Iridium. They were making good progress, over half way to La Corunna, in good weather and spirits.
