'Ere, wot's going on? I don't recall adding a very cunning graphic to my post giving a splendid pictorial rendering of the bald textual information supplied by Fairwinds. Somebody been editing my posts?

Nice job, ta, Silkie.

Re: Weather rubbish

The low pressure over NW Africa is now forecast to deepen to 1007 and extend all the way over to Madeira and beyond next weekend. This pushes the strongest winds further West, but still leaves a horible corridoor of string winds between us and Santa Maria. You really need to watch those string wind...

Well my engine has started spewing oil out of the wrong orifices. Unless someone has secretly converted it to a total loss oiling system, there is something wrong. I would, on this basis, recommend staying for a wee bit. Not entirely related to your dilemma, I know, but it is all I have at the moment.

Apologies for missing your call, Silkie, (bit of a cock-up on the answering service front) and failing to provide my wind-abating services, but whisky duties precluded and in any case I had failed to keep up to speed and had assumed Silkie was still hors de combat with a partially-detached front sai...

Work permitting indeed - I am sat on tenterhooks (whatever they are they are damned uncomfotable) expecting to be summoned to whisky duty at any minute. Until I actually start, I have no idea what time off I am likely to get (if any). I'll keep you posted, but don't hold the berth open for me if you...

It is just possible that Silkie would like to sail rather than motor. Given my proven ability to generate flat calm for miles around me when on a wind-powered vessel (WAZ excepted) it might not be such a good idea. Not sure of my availability, work-wise, at the mo either, but if ballast is needed an...
