For what it's worth..... For Murray McLeod at 'bookings@seatrek.co.uk' Murray, I'd planned to take advantage of your SeaRib excursions when I brought my family and some friends your way later in the month but, after hearing of the hooligan and reckless behaviour of your RIB driver on 30 July, I've d...

Miserere mei, Deus.... or "Help ma boab!" This from a wee lass today who lives not very far away. She used to crew for me. "I just wanted to share this with you as it is quite relevant and really does make you think about how fortunate we are. With all the news on TV lately about cha...

....a few have floated off their props in a storm surge.... I'm told the 'in thing' to do when storm surges are predicted ( August - October ? ) is to use a JCB to dig a boat-sized hole in the swampy earth, lower the empty boat in, fill it with concrete blocks and open the sea cocks so it fills. Ap...

I seem to remember, in the distant past, that some other non-indigenous creatures used to inhabit the Loch Lomond island of Inchmurrin. From time to time some would manage to get free and frighten passing motorists.

I think they were ca'ed 'noodies'.....

Companion to Peyton

Since I got into the anchoring habit a few years back, I've usually had by me a wee book to read, while waiting after midnight for That Tune, http://mp3.juno.co.uk/MP3/SF210480-01-02-16.mp3 I've just been snow-ploughing through the early chapters of a volume to sit as companion on the bookshelf alon...

That's of interest. Every little helps. A few years ago, motoring a friend's Rival34 by Ardnamurchan in the smooth, we were passed by the Northern Lights Vessel 'Pole Star' which kindly agreed to monitor and report on our radar signature as we switched between Sea-Me ON and Sea-Me OFF; a Firdell Bli...

It's a complex and subjective issue. We're hugely dependent on good vision to maintain our relative safety and avoidance of hazard; we're also very willing to persuade ourselves that electronic gadgets will somehow compensate. I'm persuaded it's appropriate to be seriously worried when viz. is reduc...
