Rusty Chain

I wouldn't bother about it too much at this stage. You can judge yourself whether it is worthwhile brushing off the excess rust to see how much metal is left. I would consider end-to-ending the chain first though. On anchors - I have a 35lb CQR that hangs off the bow roller and when not in use can b...

Noticed your profile.

Not much demand for your hobby around these parts.

I take it you live on an island?

Now

I was always advised to do it when the boat came out the water.

It means that nasty stuff doesn't sit in the sump for 6 months.

Congratulations

So pleased to hear you made a real ocean voyage and experienced real weather and came out the other end unscathed.
It'll be a bit like childbirth I assume  ...... in a couple of days you'll be thinking that it wasn't that bad!

Mum - You must be proud!

Barcelona

is a wee favourite at this time of year. Just back.

Managed to sail through the narrows ok and get to Holy Loch where we had organised a tow up the river.

Over the next couple of weekends the engine will come out and get stripped down to see what the problem is.

Fingers x'd

Hola!

Barcelona is quite nice at this time of year. Can´t vouch for May though. Wish you were here. Not reaaly so sad to be in an internet cafe looking at fora. We were booking-in online to get out selves home without queueing. Gives Sheena more time at the perfum counter. Donald & Sheena :P

AhA!

That's not what you asked in your poll though. You asked what we thought Wind over tide meant.

I agree that wind against tide is much more meaningful.......

I'm The Idiot

who thinks that wind over tide means that the wind and tide are going the same way. When the tide turns, but the wind doesn't that becomes wind against tide.

Simple really.

It works perfectly for me at any rate.

Re: This nautical terminology

Silkie wrote:"wind over tide" to mean both in the same direction whereas I always thought it meant wind and tide opposed.

I would agree with Wind over tide to mean the same direction. Wind against tide would mean the opposite.
