Re: Jerryca sh

Whether two up or solo you are going to need an auto helm or self steering gear. I don't know your previous history but have talked to previous entrants who's autohelm (brand new and fitted in Falmouth by Raymarine) was totally hopeless. Engineer in Azores tried to fix for return journey but failed....

Re: Brokers- perhaps not a total waste of time after all

I would be happy with both the Westerly or the Moody. For me a no-brainier would be a tired or original teak deck.

Replacement on either would be in the region of £20k or £19k if you did it yourself.

Enjoy the boat and go sailing whichever one you choose.

Re: Suitable sealant for diesel filler hose/tank joint.

I would renew the hose. A new replacement hose will compress better and remove the need for sealant.

Re: SWR meter

I replaced all the cabling and fitted a Metz antenna last year. It's odd when listening to people's voices coming out the speaker when for many years it was little more than silence.

I still wouldn't know, however if it was RX or TX correctly.

Re: Raising the Nancy Glen

I'm not sure what the families have been told to expect. If / when the Nancy Glen is raised there wont be much left of the bodies - it being a prawn boat and there being prawns in the hold.

Re: Spinnaker up!

A lot of stuttering going on. F... F.... F...
Once the kite came down Marisca creamed along at hull speed past Beaton Towers.
Must have been cold out there today.

Spinnaker up!

...but not for long.
Marisca choose the lull before a wee squall to hoist the kite for what would have been a pleasant reach back to JWD from Cloch earlier today.
Unfortunately a wee wet squall skooshed through so it was a case of spinnaker down!

Re: Old money (not for rope)

Also had a lovely day yesterday not doing much. Spent a pleasant hour or so at the Waterfront in Greenock for a swim. Old round pounds came in handy for the lockers as Inverclyde Council have not been updated with the knowledge that the coinage has changed.
