Driving in snow

I have just driven from Inverness to Aberdeen (via Elgin  ) there is about an inch of snow on the road at one of the long crawler lane uphill sections- cars all over the place, drivers slowing to a crawl at the bottom of the hill, hazard lights on.... Have these people never heard of momentum?...

Re: Bulk Purchasing and Buying Power

I hope to be passing through Elgin en route to Aberdoon on Sunday next, probably early evening, ferries permitting.... Any suggestions where I might leave a pile ( maybe 40m) of 5/16 chain? Failing that, returning from Aberdeen on Thursday morning, could drop it off then if its not too late? Leaving...

Re: Bulk Purchasing and Buying Power

A drop off in Elgin would suit me perfectly, as by chance I will be driving past there at the end of the month! Collection from Cumbernauld ( whenever) will be easier, plenty hauliers running Glasgow to Stornoway.

Re: Bilbo

It all kicked off when he posted a page from the Pirelli calender across several forums. Bilbo's postings have been have been stranger than usual for the last month or two. I agree, TOP is going down, even Webbie pulled back from stirring the pot last night- I expected to find him banned in the morn...

Re: Cruise liner aground in Oban Bay

The story I'm hearing is that she got into an awkward position having been baulked by a ferry and was then caught out by the wind and lack of steerage way. Toggle between 1800 and 1810- puts the Isle of Mull well clear of the entrance: http://www.aisliverpool.org.uk/historymap.php?map=ObanBay&h...

Re: Staffa Archipelago: 100 Acres Of Salmon Farm Proposed?

On a quiet night the sound of the automatic feeders travels for miles underwater, forget a peaceful night at anchor if you're in range.
Think of pellets rattling along inside dozens of plastic pipes, blown by compressed air, every 20 minutes..
