Re: Sunk Boats

Bowling wrecks are all now the property of Clydeport, who took that basin on and advertised to ask if the owners wanted to come collect their goods. None did, and so title now resides with Clydeport. I'm sure they'd be open to offers if you wanted a submerged wreck of your own. :)

Re: Bleedin' iPad

Yes. Dear Heart and Para have one - not a shared one, I hasten to add, but both can be used to navigate on. Cost me £100 for a card, no contract Thanks for that - makes it a more interesting proposition than taking out yet another mobile/Internet/dongle type contract....... Excuse my ignorance of t...

Re: Monster fish farm in Loch Etive.

It's worth remembering what constitutes a representation that will be considered by the council in the planning process, and not just be disregarded as not being a material issue. Their own guidance on this can be found here: http://www.argyll-bute.gov.uk/node/41267#comments

Re: Round Mull

I saw / heard a race start at Tobermory on Saturday morning. Would that be the Round Mull? (You can tell I'm really into this racing lark :) ) If so, that would also explain the number of boats anchored in Aros Bay. Yep, that was the one. Friday was Oban-Tobermory, Saturday Tobermory-Bunessan, Sund...

Re: Round Mull

We were on Bequia, first time a lot of us had sailed together and the skipper was missing due to work commitments so not quite as fast as we liked, but still a great fun weekend. Think it was you we raced to the line at the end of day one? My first time doing the race and thoroughly enjoyed it. Need...

Round Mull

Lovely race, shame yesterday abandoned. Don't think we did particularly well but had some time on the rail to take a few piccies. Only recognised Marisca from this parish but if you know any of the others in the photos then I'll happily send the full sized originals to them if they like. http://s163...

Re: Bleedin' iPad

Only 3G models have GPS. Other models try and guesstimate location from known wifi connections in range.

Re: Bleedin' iPad

If 1-3 had worked, I wouldn't have asked the question. :) If there's any 12v charger though you need to make sure you get one specifically for the ipad's higher power draw during charge, or it either won't charge, or will charge so utterly slowly that you'll be running the engine all day waiting fo...

Re: Machrihanish

What did she say? Is my memory still good, or am I loosing my marbles? You're correct - the terminal used to be at the beach end of the runway, and to get to it you did indeed cross the runway under lights control. So not losing it at all, good memory. The old road was closed when the terminal move...

Re: Machrihanish

Mrs McP, who hails from there, was talking last night about how she had her first driving experiences on the runway at Machrihanish so it seems likely there was a road - this would have been 25yrs ago or thereabouts. I'll ask her later.

Re: Anchoring advice

Was the anchoring worse in Salen this year? I heard from crew of Bequia that the usual dragging antics started almost immediately, although the reasons are never all that clear. I know the holding there is poor, but with 30+ boats there seems to be a distinct lack of choice in where you might end up...

Afraid I've only got minimal information - full text below, from which you can speculate to your heart's content :) Two retirals only on the Mull leg of Cherry Ripe and Capricorn whose runners had to make a wise descent on the old race route due to one of the runners sustaining a knee injury but bot...

Re: Proofreading time again please

Terms and conditions page: One heading reads OPTIONAL EXPTRAS THAT THE CHARTERER PAYS FOR There seems to be mixed fonts between text paragraphs and bullet points?
