Re: Calendar

Nick, Not sure if they're any use (or you still need any) but someone commented recently that these were decent pics. I have full size versions available. http://s163.photobucket.com/albums/t299/andymcp_photos/SIPR/?action=view&current=CIMG4548.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ...

Re: CC10

Hopefully some good sailing, but definitely some marvellous company. Great fun. PS: A robust constitution can be an advantage. My kind of sailing.....great excuse for an early season dawdle. For those that don't mind early reefing (avoids gin spillage), there will be spare beds on Ogun and plenty o...

Re: CC10

Are there criteria for entry to the CC? Looks like we'll be on the west coast from early March, and not having attended any such gatherings I am unfamiliar with the etiquette.......

Re: Border Security - this should stop the illegals!

Sorry, been ... starring on the Beeb Outdoor Show - available on podcast or again at 11.00am on Sunday am. Did you not feel let-down that your class-winning performance didn't make it onto the results summary at the end? You wuz robbed! Our appearance lasted all of 1.5 seconds, which probably suits...

Re: Winter Sailing

Having said that, now the boat is in Croabh I am concerned about what will happen although, as I am just over the hill I will be keeping a closer eye on her than previously. Any particular reason to worry about Croabh? We are there for the winter and planning to lift out late and re-launch early so...

Re: WHYW

Can't wait for next year. It was a very friendly set of folk, but then people maybe were just chatting to us because of our superb hats :) Steve Was that the rather fetching tartan deerstalkers? I think you may have been a few people ahead of me in the queue for fish & chips in Tobermory..... B...

Re: Skye moorings

Ah, apologies for getting the two places mixed up. I got Strollamus mixed up with another name that my family had associated with Broadford (Sculamus? Spelling might be off, but it was part of their house name near Broadford....). Thankfully there are none of my family on this forum to rib me for my...

Re: Skye moorings

There used to be a boatyard, fuel service (brought to a mooring) and a series of moorings owned and operated in the Kyles of Scalpay until 2, maybe 3 seasons ago. The then owner sold up and the property took an age to sell, so most people that had used the yard transferred to the Skye Boat Centre in...

Rothesay inner harbour berths

Is there a time I would need to be there by before the bridge closes, or is it left open into the evening? Thinking of escaping with my young boys either after work Friday, or later on Saturday, but not visited before. Any help appreciated - and if anyone is likely to be there and wouldn't mind catc...

Re: Good anchorage on the Clyde?

Thanks for the suggestions, we headed through the Kyles and had a peek in An Caladh - pretty busy though (although two boats then left after we had decided to give it a miss) and the winds were still quite strong, so wandered further round and eventually picked up a mooring at Kames for the night. L...

Re: Good anchorage on the Clyde?

Maybe there should be a separate thread for dodgy place names round the west coast? Last time I went round the Mull I glanced at the plotter as we were coming up towards Southend, and there on the wee map was a presumably unfriendly marking called The love child....I mean I know the Mull isn't the n...

Re: Good anchorage on the Clyde?

An Caladh, top of the Kyles .... cant beat it. Thanks for the suggestions - look like we'll be heading for the Kyles then - never been before. One question about An Caladh - we need to pass a place called Buttock Point to get there. Are there any seafaring traditions I should be aware of such as pu...

Good anchorage on the Clyde?

We're heading off from Kip tomorrow for a wee spin round the Clyde, but don't really fancy a day sail. When I checked the log we appear to have done hardly any anchoring this year, so fancy a night on the hook somewhere nice. Any recommendations for a decent place to stop that's not too far a sail? ...
