Re: Puffers

Enjoyed it too but not so keen on David Hayman. It even made Irvine harbour look good. I saw the Vic32 departing Millport last year. What a reek coming out of it, quite a sight.

Re: Family Christmas Newsletters

Depends on the friends and family. We just received one from an old friend saying what a terrible year and they hope next year is better. I do know what you mean though but you don't do Facebook so how else would you hear about their wonderful achievements? We stopped sending Xmas cards a few years ...

Re: Bulk Purchasing and Buying Power

Thanks for the info Geoff. My chain and anchor were added to the pile today. Got my own labels on with cable ties. The girl at reception said just to drop it with the rest so maybe someone could stick one of your own labels on.

Thanks

Re: Bulk Purchasing and Buying Power

Geoff. I'm hoping to get mine off the boat and up to you tomorrow afternoon. is that OK?
Can I ask what might be a stupid question? I saw you mentioned about removing shackles if you want to get them undone again, How does regalvanising get done and not stick all the links together?

Re: Bulk Purchasing and Buying Power

Geoff, I'd like to get mine done but not sure when I can get it to you. I'll try for this weekend if that's not too late. can It be dropped at Cumbernauld at weekends? If I don't make it or if that is too late just go ahead. I don't want you to wait for me.

Ian.

Not sure Brokers will take it on at that value. When I was selling Booby Trapper I was looking selling at £8K (those were the days.....and I got it :P ) They said 10K was about the lowest they would take on. Give it a try on some of the free sites, Apolloduck, Boatsand outboards etc.

Re: Condition surveys for the insurance

Just a bit of follow up re' GJW insurance. They are now extending their required survey period from 7 to 10 years. After a brief discussion they agreed I don't need one this year and will give me another 3 years before I need one. :D

There seems to be such a thing. Sounds like a good idea to me but the site doesn't seem very active.

Thanks for that info. I'll keep it in mind come renewal time.
I was over at Arran beginning of last week and they were still there. I've got a few things on now over the next few weekends that will take me into Nov so I took all sails etc off today. Sailing over for this season :(

Re: Condition surveys for the insurance

Just had a bit of a shock to the system. My usually excellent and good value insurance brokers want a full out of water condition survey this winter before they'll renew the insurance. The shock was the quote - 600 squid for looking at a 27ft boat. That's nearly two quid an inch or about the price ...
