Re: I feel . . .

Jammy so and so.... Now tell us if you were BOTH trapezing -or just your crew up front??? On reflection maybe I don't want to know :D what were you sailing? Nacra F18 Infusion Both trapezing up wind and 2 sail reaches. Helm sits in when for the downwind so that the crew can get right back (behind t...

Re: I feel . . .

Sailed in 15-18kts last weekend in rash vest shorts, harness and buoyancy aid. 12'55.061N 100'51.423E "cool" 28C and less humidity than normal. 2 on the trapezes, aysmmetric kite up and hitting more speed through the water than the wind speed. growing old but not growing up! Missing the no...

Re: The Bridge II

Switched the telly to black and white and watched the 1st episode this evening. looks dreich and cold but great viewing.
When they mentioned that the ship owner lived in Ystad, I thought we'd see a guest appearance from Wallander

Re: Happy New Year, 2014

Great finish to 2013, a blast on a nacra carbon fibre f20 catamaran with curved foils. 20+ knots of boat speed on a close reach then a great start to 2014: on the water at 10:30 in the f18, opti race at lunchtime (first time ever in one, they capsize if you stand on the transom..) breeze built up in...

aquaplane wrote:"This boat isn't run by committee", not that he was a "just do it" type, he was just letting us know who was responsible.

Does that mean that he is now "Ally even less than No Mates"

What was the result?

Re: Lost my MoK cherry

Well done breaking your MoK duck.
Your question about speed when you were under the lighthouse: probably a back eddy.
Nice lightouse and even in benign conditions, you get a sense of achievement. Bet your first beer after that tasted good

Re: Help for a Foxhound far from home

John Copeland (Copeland Marine) built them in Cowes, along with the Foxterrier, Foxcub and Aphrodite 101, flying fifteens and a range of other boats. Copeland Marine was sold in the 80's to Souters of Cowes (?) and the moulds dispersed/sold to others. I don't know if John Copeland is still around bu...

Re: East Coast Cruise

I wouldn't suggest using Collieston as a refuge. The entrance is very narrow and where that yacht is moored, there are usually local skiffs/dinghies moored with lines from the outer corner across to the main leg of the pier. There is no room to turn a 23 foot boat in the channel on the way in so you...

Re: Any sailmaker recommendations or warnings?

I was delighted with my Owen sails and the process of spec, design, fitting and the follow up so a call to Chris (now working independently of the loft) or Diana, would be my starting point.

Re: Proofreading time again please

Day 5 of the suggested cruising itinerary:

but tehre are plenty of sheltered anchorages in the huge natural harbour of Lamlash bay - or pick up a visitors’ mooring.
