Anyone going sailing tomorrow? Good Friday.I'm planning to hed out on the Clyde - but forecast not looking promising. Thinking of just going down to Largs from Rhu. Where would provide good shelter in northerly? I would imagine Rothesay could be very exposed to North wind. Seem to remember reading t...

Hi John, Elsa is insured for over the winter on a swinging mooring @ Carrick Castle. Markedly increased excess mind. However, that info is no use to you because we're with Bishop Skinner. Previously we were insured through Noble Marine who also allowed wintering on a swinging mooring, but for about...

handheld plotters/ GPS

Just lost my Garmin etrex summit somewhere on the side of Ben More Coigach! Any recommendations for a good, reasonably price, handheld plotter to replace it? Quite like the idea of one I can use on the boat, hillwalking and in the car - but suspect this involves too many compromises. Let me know, John

Thinking of a quick sail in the Gareloch/ Clyde tomorrow bu depends on how much work I get done today and state of the wind. Leaving her on the water with mast up etc. seems to have played merry hell with the electrics - masthead light stopped working and port and starboard lights gone as well.

Insurance cover for winter swinging moorings?

:?: I'm thinking of moving my boat to Loch Creran to keep her on a swinging mooring. No problem for the summer but my insurance company (Bishop Skinner) only insure moorings at South Shian for the winter months - not the ones at the Marine Resource Centre. Any recommendations for insurers who might ...

Changing username

I know that I can change most aspects of my profile - but it doesn't seem to be possible t change my username. I was thinking it might save confusion(for me if no one else) if I used the same username as on YBW. Hope this is not a gross breach of netiquette to mention a rival forum :? . Tried to re-...

Looking for a cheap option for keeping the boat this summer. Anyone not using their mooring or can recommend a cheap location on the Clyde/ West coast of Scotl...
