Proposed burgee colours

Tend to agree with Ocklepoint - not in a particular hurry as boat won't be in the water until April- However realise this could meant more hassle for webcraft - in which case I would go with the mid- blue.

Fleur now ashore

Really leased with service at Sandpoint Marina in Dumbarton. They have a trailer which lifts the boat on broad pads along the sides of the hull so no straps near the propellor. They also did a really good job of pressure washing and scraping the hull - much better than a friends boat kept at a nearb...

Exciting final trip of the year!

Saw two celebrities while out for a final sail in the Gareloch and Loch Long at the weekend! Headed round for a leisurely trip from Rosneath to the moorings at the Knockderry Hotel. We saw two tugs spraying jets of water into the air just past Cloch and assumed it was the Navy playing at firefightin...

Voyages of a Simple Sailor

Just ordered this book through the new Amazon link - hope it works OK. Read a review of the book in the Cruising Association mag - includes a description of an abortive attempt on the 2006 Jester Challenge in a Corribee which sounds quite promising.

Parochial Clyde question!

Can anyone recommend a good place to dry out a boat anywhere near the Gareloch? Only have a 4 foot deep keel so don't need a huge tide. Abandoned the boat over the summer to explore NZ and in the interim her speed has halved! Hoping its just fouling which I can scrape off between tides. I've been to...

market value of swinging moorings?

As always I'm trying to reduce my sailing costs and am thinking about buying a mooring. Just not sure what the market value is. See one advertised in Yachting Life for £1,100 at Fairlie - is this a typical price for the Clyde? Is it fairly straightforward to transfer ownership of a mooring with t...

Evening sailing!

Its a wonderful world now the clocks have changed! Had the first evening sail of the year, a modest passage from Largs to Kip. But boy was it good going sailing after work. Fleur trucked along between 5 and 6 knots until the wind dropped three miles from Kip. Great views of Arran and Holy Isle, four...

Skye

Did a circumnavigation of Skye a couple of years ago - Badachro a great place to stop over. Not remote or difficult but beautiful spot and great pub. We got showers at the pub ( I think they were free because we were eating at the pub). They have a lovely deck looking over the anchorage. If you have...

How did it work out John? We were doing the antifouling and generally lying about in heap in between trips to the Tigh an Truish. The Met Office Inshore Waters forecast on Navtex on Friday was forecasting 6-8 with a bit of 9 plus wintry showers...... Great weekend :D Friday, sailed down from Rhu to...
